Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (Sequel) - What We Want To See

The sequel to Breath of the Wild has the potential to be the greatest and darkest Zelda game of all time. Let's discuss ways Nintendo can learn from the original and implement certain things into the sequel that could help make it the best it can be.

  • This was my biggest and most ambitious project yet. I poured my heart and soul into this and hope everyone enjoys! I'm so excited to see where Nintendo takes the Sequel in terms of darkness and story direction. Let me know down below what you personally want to see in the Breath of the Wild sequel. • They need to take inspiration from Witcher 3. That’s how you excel at having a strong linear story while still having a world that’s so open. Plus the excellent characters. And not to mention the amazing DLC.

  • Dont take this personal, but in my opinion I disagree with the part how the dev. Made the game less of the same. In other words when he did this different approach it made the game unique and it stands out. But great video. everything else I agree with. You got a sub from me 👍

  • We need something TRULY dark, the darkest the dark can be, darker than the trailer we got, just like you showed when you mentioned The World

    • Imagine the goron city being completely destroyed by death mountain, stuff like that is dark, the villages being destroyed

    • Ah, much darker than majora’s mask, like 100x darker. (And please nintendo let us have post game)

  • Here's my wish-list for the sequel: Shoes being a separate clothing Link (& maybe Zelda) allowed to swim underwater Many enemies and bosses returning, not just multicoloured versions of a limited number of enemies.

  • they are trying to do something new, change the formula. The developers obviously want to give players a different good feeling when playing the game, a feeling that new players and veteran players of the series can both join alike.

  • if they do decide to make it a very dark game, they should ditch the cel shaded style. It doesn’t match the eerie foreboding story like twilight princess graphics did. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem very likely at this point they’ve already done the first game in that style and it seems like the done most of the new game the same way. I do think the idea of link kind of becoming an anti hero is SO good 👏 but like I said I think it would be better if they did dark more realistic graphics to match it.

  • For the sequel I want them to remove breakable weapons and should have a better way to fast travel then the towers I like them but climbing up hated it cause of the stamina also I prefer heart shards then orbs plus the whole having to decide between hearts and stamina was annoying u need stamina to climb towers but u need hearts to get master sword also master sword wasn’t all that great in breath of the wild and also need to have better way to travel to place to place walking and looking for towers felt like it took forever and temples need to be better and need to have more then just 4 and if we get to choose the order of the temples like last time they should try to let us know which temples are the easiest and hardest in my opinion I prefer the game decides the order of the temples

  • Superb work, honestly. This video was really interesting ! For the concept of mixing linearity and freedom, I think the best solution is "linear freedom" (yes, I know, very unoriginal name). But this would be, for example : You can do the 4 first dungeons of the game in the order you want, but they have to be all completed to access to the next ones (Of course, this can sound a bit bland like that, but I don't want to annoy everyone with out-of-context details about my personal ideas ;w;) For making the open world feel different, one of the solutions that could give a fresh feeling is, of course, to implement new structures, but also to reorganize Hyrule in a huge way. For example, if the lands of Hyrule were to be scattered throughout the skies, with regions mixing and being linked by stairs, bridges, or nothing, with underground parts becoming accessible and some parts being too high to reach at the beginning (that could also allow a linear freedom : scattering the map on width and height to make it harder to traverse) !

  • I hope for the following from this sequel: All breath of the wild mechanics still available, gliding, runes, cooking, open-air world, etc. All breath enemies plus darknuts, redeads, poes, iron knuckles, armos, daira, bari, like like, anubis, Skullwalltula, tektite, wallmaster, skulltula, deku baba, infinite hand and never before seen enemies. weapons still break but as we progress in game tools for repairing and scraping and upgrading weapons are found more choices to craft, weapons, shields, and armor. The armor of the wild was disappointing in abilities. runes work from near beginning of game plus game has new unique mechanics introduce 120 mini-dungeons but all of them very unique from each other unlike shrines, 30-100 different themes and styles 8+ epic and huge main dungeons also each very unique from each other 30-60 unique bosses, 16-30 in the dungeons and the rest in the over-world over-world bosses be like the hardest Lynel, hardest Hinox, hardest guardian, hardest darknut, hardest iron knuckle in the world plus many that are completely unique. under water swimming fishing poles can be used as one of the methods to catch fish optional motion control sword swinging game design mainly for single player experience but 2 or 3 player optional, Link, wolf-link if you have the amiibo, zelda all possible characters. You can choose either zelda or link to mainly play in single player mode. More music variety. Many places with classic Zelda music and other places with the Breath of the Wild ambient type music. Not-linear I like the fact we can go straight to the final boss as a choice. In general the more choices we are given the better a game becomes. A deep detailed story.

  • I think the things you find BotW lacking in was intentional. They gave you a massive world to explore and its limitations was done so for the sequel. I felt there were many areas that had potential for more exploration. Mainly, you couldn’t breach the surface. I felt dungeons waiting to be explored underneath. Waters to plunge. And this is why we’re getting a sequel so quickly. It was always in the plans

      AntitiousAntitious8 หลายเดือนก่อน
    • You need criticism to make something good or better that's how it works and that is what makes a fan a real fan to know where and when to say either "enough" or "stop" and not just follow blindly JUST because it is a Zelda game. If people starts with the whole: " Don't say anything bad about my game, this is perfect and you are wrong so shut up" method then gamers that truly feel for a game will walk away they will not support the game company anymore and that company will run out of money eventually and rely on making remakes/remasters and/or DLC's instead or any other dirty trick in the book to rack up some cash or it crash and burns. However during that whole process the people that supports the game company and sticks to it will be getting same the game every time and people will start to question it and later become annoyed. That is how the human race works because its psychology at its core; people change and that is a fact so eventually they want something different, something new and fresh. When this happens the company either have to change or stick to what they know and changing the base means spending a lot of money that they just don't have because they have lost of income from all the people that walked away. If you doubt me then just look what happened to EA, Blizzard and Activision in recent years and many other triple A game developers out there and how the indie game market is taking over. We need to start talking with our wallets otherwise we will have a crash in the gaming industry as a whole.

  • I’m sorry but I don’t understand why you were expecting underwater exploration in botw. It’s kinda of obvious there isn’t. When I first saw the game and how the player is supposed to traverse through water I immediately knew there would be no underwater exploration. It just didn’t befit the engine at the time. Not saying I don’t want underwater exploration in the next game. Just saying that the botw wasn’t designed around it.

    AviatorAviator10 หลายเดือนก่อน
    • Aviator I agree! I can only imagine how much more time development would have needed to build out underwater exploration. These dev teams have timelines and budgets to work with so it makes sense they didn’t have time to build out something that substantial while they were already building a whole new engine. Im sure the idea for underwater exploration was on their list though. I’m very hopeful there will be so much more to offer in BOTW 2 since they already have the engine built!

    Tanner SmithTanner Smith10 หลายเดือนก่อน
    • It has been pointed out that in the trailer when we see the castle in the background there are supposed to be 2 or 3 shrines and I think 2 sheikah towers that should be visible from that vantage point that are not there. You should also barely be able to see Vah Rudania perched on top of Death Mountain and it also isn't there.

    • @Bloody Persistent I know what you're getting at. Many games struggle to find balance and entertainment for 2 players, while others just tack it on with little care given. But take something like the last of us, or fallout new vegas. Give both players control of a story character, or any of the numerous companions, balance the combat, and dont take anything away from the story. Doesnt that sound like something you'd want? If you"ve played A Way Out, you might get the scope of what I'm wishing for here.

And I don't think any voice will fit him, something will be a little not correct hearing him talking. It wouldn't be that link through the whole franchise anymore. I'm really okay with facial expressions like in wind waker or skyward sword, I actually want much more facial expressions. But Link talking sounds wrong to me. It's just my opinion though. • This is extremely well-made, great job! My theory on the dungeons so far, and this might just be hopeful thinking as Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time, is that we will spend a little bit of time before the events we saw in the trailer. Maybe 2 years have passed by, people are in the process of restoration. Maybe 10 years (they looked pretty young still, but who know), or maybe a week. Either way, when you start thinking about the connections it has to Ocarina of Time, it starts to get more and more plausible that the temples from OoT will return in BotW2. OoT caused the split of the three timelines and BotW fused them back together. This could just be a coincidence or it could be almost like a parallel link to OoT. The places of every shrine in OoT is already present in BotW, they would just have to make them appear after Ganon awakens or something (and add underwater exploration). Think about it, The Deku Tree, Death Mountain, Zora’s Domain, the Lost Woods [The Forgotten Temple?], Death Mountain again, Kakariko Village, Lake Hylia, and the Gerudo Desert. All they would have to do is implement some kind of event to happen that “uncovers” them or maybe something about time travel (please) or the timeshift stones. Idk, maybe it’s wishful thinking but I see a lot of connections to Ocarina of Time and bringing back not the exact temples but similar names and DEFINITELY a similar number would be incredible and something I would love.
