You know, that cocky attitude, trashtalking, showing off, disrespecting some of the fighters, acting like a immature teenager, etc. And now we see this interview, where he talks to the point, doesn't clown, respects the opponent and takes the defeat graciously, which makes me think he is maybe a nice guy after all. I wonder if this ability to 'not to be a douche' will stay with him for longer, or it's just a temporary influence of humble Jan's presence, and he will act real soon the same way he did before, cause of sticking with and matching up the fights with some of the other trashtalking clowns, which we know mma is full of them.

Israel has won my respect for sure. I'm a fan. He did not have to move up but to prove he is a true soldier and warrior he did so. This fight proves why I have never ever considered Khabib a great champion. He should be fighting in this weight class or Wonderboys weight class, but no he will only fight midgets. GSP said Khabib is bigger than him and walks around over 190 lbs. I just don't understand why everyone drinks the Khabib Kool-Aid. Going from 190 to 155 to fight midgets is insane. Watch those first 3 tomorrow when you aren't heated. Razor close rounds and I can completely see how either guy won any of those first 3. Without a doubt there is an alternate reality where adesanya got the nod from the judges on those 3. Then again there is another reality where adesanya lost all 3 of those first rounds.
Dana needs to shut up about 10-8s. There has been so much shit being talked for years about making a difference between those razor close rounds and decisive rounds. Controlling more than half a round on the ground, being defensively sound, and landing alot of good shots all within a single round should warrant a 10-8. Especially considering a strike for strike even round still lands a 10-9 instead of a 9-9.... I mean how would you say the even first three rounds were comparable to the blowouts of the last 2
Rd 4 was a clear 10-8 and it honestly brings into question dana’s biases or his understanding of combat sports. Dana has never really competed in combat sports so this is theory to him. One man dominating another for the entirety of a round is a 10-8. As you said, if someone wins for 3 minutes of a round and the other guy is doing better for the other 2 mins, its a 10-9. This is fundamentally different from one guy manhandles the other for 100 percent of the round

Jan was the superior man and he did as he wanted with izzy in round 4 and kind of in round 5. The scorecards may have been or should have been close but the fight itself was one sided. Jan made him look like half a man and honestly exposed the clearly weakest division in the sport much like he did when he manhandled luke. Izzy did not hurt him at all. It was almost uncomfortable seeing how Jan was dominating him on the ground. It showed that an average athlete with “technique” cannot overcome a slightly better athlete with strength and size
First name Surname i dont know why people think “damage” is an element of combat sports though. The metrics that should be used are domination and control and essentially how one sided something was. Round 4 was 100 percent one sided and should not be judged the same way as a round that was 60/40. Damage is subjective and is never by itself a metric in combat sports. Takedowns give people points and there is nothing damaging about most takedowns but they are indicative of domination and someone imposing their will
@Robert Whittaker man watch the fight without DC and Joe commentary. The stand up was even. Actually Jan got 4 rounds. Ofc Izzy was good on his feet, he's elite striker, but Jan was prepared and Adesanya's shots landed on the defence mostly. The best strikes Izzy's thrown were those leg kicks and few head punches. But Jan was catching Izzy with his jabs and few combinations, some low kicks and middle kicks and also clinching. He got that plan good. He didn't shoot with those awkward flurry's that Izzy was waiting for whole the time. Good tactics.

Why are close rounds scored the same as when there is a clear winner (10-9), versus a 10-8 when there is an "ass-whooping"? Maybe a close round should be a 10-9, a round with a clear winner be a 10-8, and a round with an "ass-whooping" be a 10-7. Or perhaps a half-point system for close rounds? I'm curious what other people think.
