  • Every time I think about the movie The Shining, I remember three specific things that come to mind. Fist, “HERE’S JOHNNY”, Second the word Redrum, and third Jack Nicholson’s wicked eyebrows😖

  • I heard one other possible explaination was Jack was molesting danny. I didn't really think about it before but Jack was playing with a yellow tennis ball and when danny was sitting in front of room 237 a yellow tennis ball rolled up. That could indicate Jack was there and Jack hurt danny in that room again

  • Jack's escape from the storage room isn't supernatural. There's another door behind the shelf, right behind the ketchup at 15:23.

    hv_fphv_fp4 วันที่ผ่านมา
    • @veronica carlson See the can of Heinz Ketchup? If you look at the wall behind it, you can see a dark bar running vertically down. That's the door. The analysis video that pointed it out showed the door from the other side as well.

  • I'd like to think that the spirits that led Jack's son to write "redrum" and grab a knife before Jack arrived were the twin's spirits. This warning was given by the spirits because they share their innocence with Jack's son -they dont want him to experience the same horror that they experienced; as a result of this, they advise him to write "redrum" so his Mother can be frightened/warned immediately once she awakes. In addition to this, they also told him to get a knife for self defense against Jack. ---- On top of this, I'd also like to think that they're invitation to "play with them" was simply because of their loneliness and lack of other youthful company - given that there are no other younger spirits found in the hotel throughout the film.

  • I've been listening to the book on audible during work and it really is different, and in the book Halerand actually tries to get Danny to go with him to Florida at the start because he already had a feeling that something like this was going to happen. Also there is a theory that Pennywise is the Hotel and when he's in hibernation he brings people who have the shine to the hotel. It's an interesting theory.

    chrisarbourchrisarbour27 วันที่ผ่านมา
  • Ehhh The fun of The Shining is in the details. The layout of the hotel is nonsense, the inconsistencies in the timeline of events are glaring. The little girls we see are twins but the ones who were murdered weren't. This kind of thing. Telling us the story like this is pointless. Also stop shouting.

  • Jack is bad since the beginning. He is Stephen King. This is why king hates the movie. In his book, he makes the writer(himself) a good person. The evil comes from the hotel. The responsibility for the evil is placed firmly where it belongs in the movie. The hotel has been there for a very long time, and while bad things have happened there, the hotel was not responsible, the people were. While in society, Jack attempted to hold himself in check, but once away from the pressures of society, he could be free to be who he really was. Jack Nicholson is not a good actor. He plays the same character, no matter the movie, no matter the genre. He is a one-trick pony.

    • @Diana Fronsdahl The magazine says 1978 I think. That still doesn't make much math sense for 2 generations and noone said over the thanksgiving table did you hear about granddad dying in a freak hotel accident...haha. Also I looked at the storage room video and now I do see what they are calling a door...it's awfully skinny BUT they try to make a point of Jack going past that open door again when he has the ax and the only way he could have gotten to that door was if he moved lots of cans and in that scene you can see they are in the exact same place. Did he run back inside and restock?

    • @Diana Fronsdahl I recently saw this movie again and I am becoming obsessed. Here are 2 things people say. First there is another door in that food locker jack is locked in. No matter where they say it is I see nothing. Next when jack is at the overlook and the manager comes to get him he is sitting in the chair and reading a playgirl magazine. I even saw a still picture of that but it could have been photoshopped. I wish I could see that for myself. Now I am trying to notice what colors people have on when they are doing what. It's the primary colors of red blue and yellow. Like danny always wears red except for the time he is in front of 237. Jack never wears red until he goes crazy and then he has on the dark red jacket. The car they drive in with is primary yellow, the ball is primary yellow. It's just goofy things that seem to have some connection. Here is another thing I am trying to see. Maybe I'll find this movie cheap somewhere and really get to check it out. Someone had a theory that they were all reincarnated. I don't really go for that. We have to assume the jack in the picture died in 1941 and guess this jack was 35 in 1970. That's kind of a short time frame for 2 generations but since we don't know the exact times of things it's hard to tell. In any case someone said if he's reincarnated how come he doesn't know the layout of the hedge maze and this is what that is. When Jack is on the table and looking down at the hedge maze it is different than when they show danny and wendy running thru it. The first time danny and wendy go in the maze there is a poster outside the maze with the layout and I haven't been able to figure that out and see if that was different also. Maybe that was nod to king since they couldn't make hedge animals move.

  • Oh please with the whole " _The white man took land from indians!_ ". They were killing each other off for land and resources long before any white man washed ashore. People act like they had some Devine deed and right to the land. Fact is, they traded much of their land for guns, tobacco and alcohol. Its not white settlers fault they were bad at bartering. They also weren't the "one with nature" types we were led to believe. Being nomadic hunters, they decimated the land of resources before moving on to the next area. They were the reason Bison and Buffalo nearly went extinct. When they werent slaughtering innocent settlers just trying to make a living in the vast landscape. And of course now that the US government gives them their own land "Reservations" (tax free mind you), what do they do with it? Gambling casinos and slums rife with alcoholism and drug abuse. So cultural 🙄

  • i watched the Shining for the first time ever yesterday. The 90GB UHD BluRay Version. 1. The movie for me was boring the acting of the kid and of the mother was terrible, Jack was briliant. 2. There was not 1 scary moment in the movie. 3. I tought the Soundtrack was pretty good. 4. A lot of unnecesary footage was included, wich made the movie boring AF. These are my impressions of the movie.

  • The Shining is an incredible story that has so much depth and many rich details that would have made the movie so much better. The room number in the book is 217. And Wendy in the book is a very, very strong woman. She is not a week person. If you haven't, read the book and see what makes this story truly and incredible journey of human nature and how much they can change.

Then at 9:30, its the same scene but the lips shaped picture is gone when danny is sitting there. thats one of the themes that are hidden in the movie intentionally, and perhaps some native american themes and the scene with grady is confusing but this movie has a lot more meanings than i originally thought

When Jack goes back into the Gold BallRoom the second time. You can hear the band playing "Midnight, the Stars and You" , so technically, the ghosts were trapped there after 1934.
