  • How the F--- is Stephen A disgusted by Tim Tebow backlash? His disgust just makes me hate Tebow's argument more. Tim Tebow isn't privileged? The fact that he didn't grow up on the inner streets and never had to worry about going to bed hungry as a kid is more than what some other kids have to go through.

  • 1st off, Love Tim Tebow and respect him a ton, and everyone should know they don’t have to 100% agree with someone else’s perspective all of the time, Tim has his view point just like each of us has our own, we ought to be grateful for multiple perspectives and remain respectful in the midst of differences, I do think it’s messed up in a sense that players are some of the only ones not making a profit when they put so much at risk as well as invest so much into the sport, that being said, I think whatever is decided must be done with many different perspectives being brought together to arrive at the best possible decision for all involved, it won’t be perfect of course but at least we should try to set a strong foundation for adjustments moving forward. 😉

  • A lot of those players won’t make enough for tuition, food, supplies, and accommodations. That’s the reality. Don’t forget about those lovely taxes in California. Are they still going to give them a scholarship? That would be ridiculous to pay them and give them a free ride. This law is going to be nothing but trouble.

Also they have free clothes from sponsors free food free housing free tuition free tutors free everything. While the average student leaves school with 40 or 50 thousands in debt. And if they don’t get drafted they owe nothing. Half of these players would not be accepted into college based on their academic abilities. I’m a GA bulldog fan and I seen an interview with one of our wide receivers saying he came to college reading on a 8th grade level really? Think God he can run fast and catch a ball.

  • Tim Tebow is right, this is why you shouldn’t pay players: Obviously, the movement to pay players a portion of the millions of dollars that Universities make is in full swing and likely will only keep getting louder until it finally happens, which I think it will eventually. But the main problem with paying players is that it won’t stop there, you know it won’t. The next question once they get paid is “Why do I have to go to class?” The argument will be that they are “employees” of the school and don’t really need to pursue an education if they don’t want to. Many of us will agree with that, since the “student” in student-athlete has long been degraded to the point that it is an active joke. The vast majority aren’t real students, other than showing up to class and acting like they are listening. But they certainly aren’t doing any of the work, and even the exams are hand-fed to them. Don’t even get me started on the online classes. So once they have obtained a salary from the University, along with a full classroom exemption, what would be next? “Why do I need to live on campus, interact with anybody on campus outside the football program, or even live in the local area most months during the year”? Makes sense, if they are getting paid, they can live wherever they want to. A kid from LA could conceivably fly in right before the start of camp, fly out numerous times during the football year, and then live at home in LA from January through August. Basically, you would now have a football program that is completely divorced from the college, except for the fact that they play “home” games in Norman. Basically what we would now have is the University of Oklahoma that owns the Oklahoma Sooners, an actual minor league NFL franchise. What if something bad happens though? What if the football program runs amok and has sexual assaults and very bad behavior that embarrasses the University, basically a Bailor 2.0 (or just a movement to end football due to CTE)? Since a college campus is basically a left-wing think tank, what if the University faculty and students got together and had a radical protest and BDS movement to try and force the University of Oklahoma to Boycott, Divest, and Sanction the Oklahoma Sooners minor league football franchise? Which would mean the University of Oklahoma would sell off their interest in their minor league football franchise, and perhaps even sell Owen Field and Heisman Park as well, to a private entity. So now that we have a bunch of former University football programs that are now 100% true minor league football teams, why should I watch that? I don’t watch or follow minor league baseball, so again, what is my motivation to watch lesser skilled players? I could even envision a scenario where the next Adrian Peterson gets called up to the NFL after week 3 in his first season, which would ruin the Oklahoma Sooners chance at a minor league football title. But by all means, keep whining about paying players. That means that you want to ruin the entire sport. But don’t whine at all when the whole thing comes crashing down like the house of cards that it currently is. What the Universities should actually do is move away from paying players, actually enforce the ‘student’ part of the student-athlete, and force the NFL to work with an actual minor league (XFL). This would save the integrity of the sport as we know it today. But of course they won’t do any of that, they will continue down the road of ruin.

  • How are you gonna decide who gets paid? They have to pay all of them comparably. Does a kicker get paid the same as a Heisman candidate QB? What about the female athletes? You can't leave them out because of title 19. How do the small schools pay their players.

    Christopher LaughlinChristopher Laughlin16 วันที่ผ่านมา
    • The schools won't be paying the players. The California bill will only allow for players to profit off their own names and likenesses. Under the California, a football player at USC won't be getting paid by USC, but he would be allowed to, for example, monetize a TH-vision channel.
