This time I'm talkin Pirate movies, where they went, and why DreamWorks' Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is an absolute banger within animation and the Pirate cinema canon. Shout outs to Michelle Pfeiffer for being my mom and yours.

  • Hey, I was just hoping to ask if you could cover the movie Anastasia or Titan AE. These two movies are, in my opinion, criminally underrated. Anastasia has a better soundtrack, story and characters than most of anything that Disney has put out and Titan AE seems like its right up your alley because its very similar to Treasure Planet in both story beats and the fact that it underperformed at the box office.

  • Sinbad, el dorado, treasure planet, atlantis. My all time favorite movies outside of satoshi kon and ghibli. True comforts and hidden gems in 2d animation that I've loved throughout my childhood. And so underrated in the public sphere. I love how you take a deep dive and dig into the roots and meat of them, bringing out the shine of them. That you so clearly love these movies as deeply as we do makes it as fun to listen to and engage in. I'll never stop having fun watching! I cant wait for the day you cover Atlantis, best wishes friend 💫💫💫

  • Another excellent review, but one point keeps standing out in a lot of your videos (and I don't know if its just how my brain works), but the background music containing lyrics is super distracting, as while I'm listening to what you're saying, my brain is constantly trying to pick out the background lyrics as well, which is near impossible given how muted/dulled they are. The frequencies don't clash between the music and voice, its just the music lyrics which are unintelligible from the bass only frequency. I don't know if other people have this problem but replacing it with pure instrumentals may bring more focus back to your voice and excellent analysis, without detracting from the laid back emotional vibe you so diligently put in.

  • RE: Slavery Honesty, Disney is so dumb. It is a historical FACT that some pirates freed slaves and that some freed slaves joined ships dedicated to piracy. Don't take my word for it, just read books, articles, etc. about the history of piracy in the Caribbean in particular, in the 17th and the 18th century especially. I'm from Cuba and I don't find this ~controversial~ at all; I've known about it since childhood. It was (no joke) in our elementary school history textbook, along with entire chapters dedicated to slavery in the Caribbean and its impact in our history.

  • The book of peace protected the world by shielding it from chaos which was shown by the darkness and decay that immediately appeared upon its closing at the hands of the goddess of chaos. The reason it traveled between the cities wasn't so it could perform that role directly but, most likely, indirectly, as a treasure coveted by a dozen different powers might be shared between them like children sharing a trophy by passing it off to each other certain days of the week. At least in my opinion as such is merely my own personal observation.

  • I just found this channel and have been watching for like 5 hours at least... now THIS is the kind of enthusiasm and love for animation that I've been looking for. I'm glad I'm not the only one heart broken about this kind of stuff, and the decline of 2D animation. I wanted to be an animator when I grew up, when I was a kid, because of how beautiful 2D animation (and animation in general) is. It's a life-long love of cartoons and animated movies that really makes me appreciate these videos, I love the explained history of the animation studios and box office performances alongside historical backgrounds to the stories themselves- it's absolutely stellar. This is the kind of research and passion that ignites a spark for me. Thank you & I can't wait to watch your other videos : )
