  • Jordan LeBron Kareem Chamberlain Duncan Shaq Hakeem Bird Kobe Magic Born In 96, for me that’s my top 10. Some quality players just miss out there though Bill Russell, The Big O, Jerry West, Robinson, Dr J.

  • Depends how you define greatness. Lebron has been the a top 3 player in the league for like 15 years and indisputably the best for many of those years. That's absolutely crazy. MJ still gets the nod over Lebron because of the titles and always showing up big in the big moments.

  • You can make the inverse argument for Kenny’s biggest argument piece. He’s saying since he played against his top picks, that’s what makes them on his list. You can easily make a case against him because he hasn’t played against prime Lebron or prime Kobe or anyone from the 2000’s really. It’s a useless conversation because we will all be prisoners of our eras. Kenny does have a good point in people devaluing centers though. I agree with that

  • I ... don't disagree with Kenny. If you give me a choice between 20 year-old Shaq and 18 year-old LeBron James ... I'm taking Shaq. Then I'm going to transplant the late, great Kobe Bryant's work ethic into Shaq's mentality and win everything for about 10 years. Also, a lot of people saying "You're ignoring Tim Duncan". Tim Duncan is on record saying that Wilt Chamberlain is a level above him, and of the three "Greatest Centers" (Bill/Wilt/Kareem) it's practically unanimous that Wilt is the bottom of the pile. You have Jordan at number one, so you'll have to slot Wilt at No. 4 at best, therefore Tim Duncan's maximum possible spot is now, therefore, 5th. Now let's look at the other players: do you put Tim Duncan above Magic Johnson and Larry Bird? In terms of accomplishments, he's definitely not Magic, so, okay, let's say he displaces Larry through sheer longevity and Championship+Finals MVP numbers. Now that puts him at 6th, at best. But hang on, here's a twist! People have been on record saying that Bird is at least comparable to Russell. Auerbach has even said that if there was a trade that offered Bird for Russell, he'd take it. The same man he won 9 Championships alongside has that to say of him. Since Russell is agreed to be better than Wilt, we can assume that since Russell and Bird are somewhat equal, that would displace WILT and bring Johnson, who is seen as Bird's superior, UP. That leaves Tim Duncan standing at 7th, at best, now. Now, let's look at the next names on the list: Shaquille O'Neal. Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan are contemporaries, for sure. Shaq has 4 rings, Tim has 5. Tim has 2 MVPs, Shaq has 1. In terms of a single dominant season and peak, Shaq wins. But if we're comparing their whole careers--even if we cut off the tail ends--we can see that Tim holds the edge. Now Tim Duncan stands 7th and now, the new guy, Shaq, is 8th at best. But what about the next challenger? LeBron James. Where does he stand? Personally, I place LeBron above Kareem, but below Magic Johnson. Do you? Comment below. Current slots: 1. Michael Jeffrey Jordan 2. Earvin Magic Johnson 3. LeBron James (?) 4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 5. Larry Bird 6. Bill Russell 7. Wilt Chamberlain 8. Tim Duncan (?) 9. Shaquille O'Neal (?) 10. ????

  • Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West are extremely overrated. No way Bron, Duncan and Magic aren't top 7 or so. This whole talk about championships and records is misguided, skill, overall dominance of the game and how representative they were to the league are all more importante. In no possible world is someone so offensively mediocre like Russell, who played in a midget unskilled era, a better player than Bron, Magic, Kobe, KD or even Shaq, he would get destroyed multiple times by any of these guys.

Do you want to say Lebron isn’t better than Jordan or even number two, whatever I could live with that. But not having LeBron James as a top-five basketball player ever at absolute worst is just so silly it’s absurd

  • Kareem career stats: 24.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 1,560 regular season games. Shaq career stats: 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 1,207 regular season games Kareem still has the record for scoring with only one career 3 pointer in his career. Look at the highlights of Kareem when he was young & in his prime, he was unstoppable. So was Shaq. But Shaq was injury prone late in his career, didnt take care of his body. Kareem took care of his body and was available to play even in his later years. Kareem won championships are all levels including high school & college and his overall resume shames Shaq’s. Had Shaq not been so injury prone, of course I’d choose him but looking at both their careers, If I had to chose between Kareem & Shaq, I’d take Kareem easily!

  • Agree with Chuck's list, and Hakeem just ahead of Shaq. Baylor, West, Robertson and Russell a nod to the old era, when the game was different, guys who didn't have the opportunity to model their game after greats. Also agree with Kenny... Jordan, Wilt, Kareem as the top-3. Chuck's players, plus Hakeem, has Shaq at 12. If you put in Shaq as top-10, who do you take off? Russell, West, Robertson, Baylor, those guys. That's what people are doing, dismissing the old cats. Just like LeBron #1, ahead of Michael and Wilt... stop. Everyone seems to agree on Jordan, Wilt, Kareem, Bird, LeBron, and Magic. And then, I would say Kobe ahead of Shaq as well (just barely). Oscar deserves a spot, and you gonna argue with Bill Russell? So you're looking at West and Baylor, and giving the nod to the dominant forces of their eras. I don't see the problem..

  • In my list 1. MJ.- GOAT 2. Wilt - scored 100 in a game. Averaged 50ppg in a season 3. Kareem- 6mvps, 6 titles, most runs scored. Most unstoppable shot 4. Russel- greatest winner, probably greatest defender 5. Magic- greatest PG 6. Bird- all arround great 7. Duncan- greatest PF 8. Lebron- 3/8 in the finals, definitely not 5. Played in weakest eastern conference. Not enough killer mentality like other greats. 9. Hakeem- only MJ and him ever won mvp and Defensive player in the same season. Most skilled big man 10. Shaq- most dominant big man 11. Kobe- closest to MJ 12. Oscar- triple double machine 13. KD- probably end up in top 10 14. Kawhi- one of the greatest 2 way player ever. Probably end up top 10 15. Curry- Greatest shooter ever Probably end up top 10 16. Dr J 17. West- the logo. 1/9 in the finals 18. ELgin Baylor 19. Karl Malone 20. Moses 21. Barkley 22. Pippen 23. Norwitzki 24. David Robinson 25. Giannis 26. AI 27. Westbrook 28. Nash 29. Wade 30. Harden 30. KG
