  • My cousin was bitten by a copperhead between the toes while playing outside in San Antonio. I've heard they have small fangs so it's harder for them to get a good strike unless it's someplace soft like between the toes. True or BS?

  • I got bit by a copperhead in the late 80's . Was bit on my right ankle and it took a long time to heal. I didn't get sick, only ankle was swollen and hurt. I finally got better when i took penicillan for 5 days. I still have a round circle about a half dollar size and the two fang marks on my leg for evidence.

  • I once caught a garter snake and my hand smelled for days

  • I went to providence canyon in GA . Walking on the trail. For most of it I was looking up not down and walking pretty fast. But I started to look at the ground right infront of where I stepped . I was already stepping my next step when I realize what’s on the ground is a snake. I had to widen my step to NOT STEP ON IT . I yelped and fell forward. As I was falling I was like “oh heck naw, this snake is gonna strike upwards and bite me 😰” I’m on the ground. Nathan was like ??? And I was like a snake 😰😰 ... and he was like “oh really, where?” . You could barely see that snake the ground was brown and it was under some spotted shade.

  • I hike in the desert of the soutwest and am often out of phone range are miles away from the van. If I get bit such as on the hand or arm - I hike of course with a good knife. If it was life or death and I acted quickly could I instantly cut my arm off as fast as possible before the venom hit me and make it out? I am sure there would be no saving the arm and likely throw it away.

  • I don't understand why you couldn't take the jeep further, and Coyote, buddy, if you ever want to see America's snakes, you only have to visit my house in Alabama. I have cottonmouths, copperheads, a variety of rattlesnakes including Timber, and Coral snakes. All over the place. Not hard to find, usually hiding in a pile of leaf litter or just basking in my driveway. Fun! Seriously, if you need snakes, you can visit any mountain top in AL for rattle and copperhead or coral, and any river or lake for cottonmouth. They are super dense in the riparian forests of alabama.

  • Can I join you guys and help? 30yrs very active and I’m great shape. Love snakes so much lost my last bf because of them.

  • I kill venomous snakes for a living, I don't generally bother the non venomous ones though unless they are a nuisance but most of the time I just relocate them. Most beautiful snake I've seen and the ratest though is the blue racer. Sadly it's so rare that people don't even believe it exists. Saw my only one a few years befor cellphones were a thing so I have no proof. But very beautiful snakes.

  • I recently moved to a new house in Maryland, near Chesapeake Bay. I was just out in my (heavily wooded) backyard today doing yard work with my parents. In sandals. I've heard that copperheads are running rampant here but I didn't know exactly how dangerous they are until I watched this video and read the comments. I guess it's safe to say I won't be going out with exposed feet or ankles anymore

  • You wanna find snakes in WV, you're doing it wrong. Get some ATV's and go to hatfield and mccoy trails. Just ride the trails. You'll find snakes, usually just laying in the middle of the trail. We kicked one up once, went flying in the air, gave everyone a good scare lol. I've seen hundreds of snakes off roading. The trails are clear and have good sun light in many areas, so snakes love to just lay on them and bask.

  • I've had two dogs get nailed by a copperhead. The first stuck his nose where it didn't belong and ended up with a face like a bull terrier. The second sat on said snake and was bitten on her rear. They are absolutely gorgeous (when you can actually spot them) but are so hard to see in the leaf litter. Watch your step, people! Stepping on one makes for a bad experience for both parties.
