  • Both Ed and Julian need to be given back their freedoms, and the control freaks that have persecuted them should be punished.

  • Our government has never been for the people. It's all about money power and fame. If you keep the people blind to the truth, they become blind and you can control the masses. Remember people..THE GOVERNMENT HAD JESUS KILLED.

  • There IS a theory that Snowden has ALWAYS been a CIA "asset"...acting under orders....and is STILL acting under orders today. And what were those orders?: Sully the name and reputation of the NSA...so the CIA could make the case that the CIA takeover its functions and responsibilities. The NSA is VERY powerful. Monitoring communications all over the world is probably MUCH more effective in obtaining intelligence than the CIA's M.O. of placing agents around the world to do that. So the CIA taking over the NSA's functions would be a MAJOR coup to not only make the CIA more effective but to eliminate a major threat to their funding...the current and MORE EFFECTIVE... NSA.

  • I would have to agree with Edward Snowden where allegations of national security compromise is concerned since 2013. The bad guys may have changed their tactics once the NSA's metadata scheme was revealed, but other than the Boston Bomber, there hasn't been a domestic terror attack by a well organized foreign terrorist organization against the U.S. So, in that light, the only reason Edward Snowden hasn't been allowed to return home are moot. I also agree with Snowden's assessment if what "national security" constitutes today. It's no longer about leaked classified information that if allowed to fall into the wrong hands can be harmful to U.S. interests or intelligence gathering capabilities. It's about collective intelligence and political institutions (i.e., State Dept) being rendered ineffective. But if you've paid attention to current events, you know it doesn't take Ann Edward Snowden to do that. It just takes one carefully placed private citizen acting on behave of the POTUS to change that dynamic in a very HUGE way. Provided the law get changed where he can defend his actions, Edward Snowden should be allowed to return home.

  • When I first heard about Snowden, I thought he was a traitor to his country, etc, etc. without finding out what he done. When I saw the John Oliver interview with him a few years ago, eventhough I thought it was supposed be a joke, it was insightful. My opinion of Snowden was more positive. This interview just confirmed that he saw something wrong and had to say something. It wasn't to become famous, celebrity or anything like that. He should come home and have his due process fairly. My original assumption was based on incomplete facts. I didn't know that the government forced him to go to Russia which I considered traitorous. I never thought about my life was being violated until Snowden. He opened my eyes!

  • He's the right side of the USA. Someone that put his life in jeopardy for the common good. Someone that is intelligent, a master technician on his field. Well spoken with a clear message. Someone with a coherent discourse and perceived integrity. Someone that puts the truth above personal comfort. He's the right side of USA where the righteous attitude towards the American people and the people of other countries matters more than hollow patriotism. He's on the side of real democracy. He's on the opposite side of buffoons that value money, fame and power above else. He's on the opposite side of the "big brother". He's on the opposite side of racists, misogynists and xenophobes. He's educated and on the opposite side of stupid idiots puffing the chest with their fists and with a gun on their belt. He's a decent man.

He has not been proved to be a traitor. There are people out there who have not served the United States in anyway, but are free to roam around purposelessly. All sorts of people are being pardoned, cats, dogs etc. Please pardon him. We could learn from him.

  • What gets me having worked for Cingular/AT&T during and after 911, we knew, everyone knew, it was a big huge project and we were not gagged, it was written up in trade magazines such as cellular today that the government via Homeland Security was hovering up all the data possible in the name of national security. The project, ours was named Access7, using the SS7 signaling system, tracks and records call data. We routed every voice circuit through this system, call setup data initially, then IP and SMS data. THIS was not news, it was publicly known. Snowden’s repeated statements that phones can be hacked. Yes, they can, but it is rarely done. Why? It is not necessary. Every single voice and data call is routed through the Access7 systems, they conversations are digitally recorded, and they do not need to bother jacking your phone because a simple query will give them your conversations, Internet history, texts and voicemails. Granted, data transfer makes data delayed, less than live, but a few hours isn’t a major issue. All they have to do is enter a query, location, cell site, cell number, whatever and in a minute the calls related show up for their perusal. Don’t know the number, but know where the target traveled, query the cell sites on a given route and time and the common denominators are listed, then a search will give them the numbers. Exclude those that didn’t start and end in your results (phone kept on traveling) and you are usually left with a very manageable data set. My point is Snowden... WHAT CRIME? We KNEW! I was passively involved! It wasn’t a big deal then and all of a sudden he is a criminal? My question is WHAT OTHER INFO DID HE TAKE THAT HASN’T BEEN RELEASED YET? Because what was released... we knew. Yes, some side effects that were unknown at the time, weaknesses are now known to be exploitable. We now know that foreign officials calls are monitored, but we also must assume that we are not the only country doing this, EVERY cellular company in the world may have similar programs. We now know that police can submit a retroactive request, say a murder or drug suspect, submit a request and they can get the call data and conversations still available in days. That and others uses are what we who installed the system did not know.
