  • I think part of the Grounded episode was glossed over, in his mania Orel comes to the realization that "I'm my own church." Though the first two seasons are fairly episodice, the last follows a path, the seemingly random mishaps at the beginning of the episode that lead to the events being set up by the end of the following episode with the climax of the overall season being the hunting trip, that which leads up to and tumbles down from. And ultimately shows the cycle of abuse from Orel's grandfather to his father to him, and how his entire lifestyle and the lessons he learned shape his own participation. In the end we see him breaking the cycle with a family of his own, and likely a different take on faith than he grew up with, rather than the dogmatic and illogical lessons of the church, the lesson of "I'm my own church."

  • Holy shiatt, IO know which new world denomination church (drinking shaming) the show was plugging, but the endings of each episode where Orl got spanked by his alcoholic dad was messed up as I wrongly assumed due to claymation proportion and angle also wording thr- L0L that de dad was making Orl realize him as punishmint for all de goofery he had done in the episode, Glad I kept watching, firstly to verify what I saw, then just due to how Hi- larious de show as y-may know and surely do if, uh er uhm, if. Yu. Actually. Watched. This. Vdo and were smart and lucky enuff (I've had enuff syke) if uh I say often yall done gone and done got sooooo lucky to be like totally reading this comment brought to yu in part by TH-vision, after Jeezus, Metro n them, we love y'all evn tho yah dirkriding tee mohboh, whatever thems is !! I tell chix I gots a viryzin !! Yeah tho- since yu readafying this yu know how phunee dat clay figure show is !! If I was like ure older sibling, I would like tell yu all sternly and shtuff not to watch it and dat its bad not for homophobia reasons (Hetetogamy !!, Hetetogamy !!🕴 it's my mantra contre les nonsense) but like psychology but in reverse sorta like how Riley trucked grandad into letting him go 2 de mall to 2 bash Santa with dat folding chair to get yu to watch it but at first I would say all- doode, de dad doesn't get puss drunk and fuck de kid at de end, m'kay ?? 🤗👍

  • I think a dark moment of the show was when Orel realized he’d be stuck with these assholes for the rest of his childhood. At least he finally made it out, but I can’t imagine it being an easy journey. I’ve heard from Telltale Atheist’s channel just how hard it can be to leave a religion that demands control over every aspect of your life and family.

This is what Moral Orel was making commentary about. ironic and Orwellian or should I say Youtubian to say the least.

  • Adult Swim has, since about the early 2000s incorporated a more Illuminati type of foundation in their programming. All the while it’s a thin veil that most see right thru. Yet it’s still there and it still assimilates itself into our self consciousness. That’s just my take on it

  • Moral Oral will always hold a spot in my heart. It was pretty much the same jounery I went on as I grew up. Those I once idolized were horrible people, abusive even. And you begin to slow have the sinking feeling of should I just accept this and become a part of it or should I just leave. I know alot of people will believe in the highlights of religion, and maybe it's becuase they have geninuely not been exposed or have been shielded to the VERY evil side of it. They judge those who leave it and those who question it, becuase they refuse to accept that there is evil inyour way of thinking and religious culture. I can deep into this. The moral to my story was "Get out". And I did. My dad was his dad but.....darker. Yeah, I don't have a hive mind, support group, or mob mentality to help me. And life does get rough without it. But I wouldn't trade this form of freedom for anything. I'm in charge of my body and I'm incharge of my choices and I'm still a decent person with no strings attached. Sorry, it's abit off topic, but this show has the strange ability to knock down my joking facade brings out the seriousness I hate talking about.

  • An absolute masterpiece of syndicated television. I wonder if anything even remotely close to its brutal tone exists besides what you can find in underground manga and anime. I'd call it the Western equivalent to Oyasumi Punpun, although that's even too broad and vague to describe the scope of the show's messages and intent.

  • Bael Sibuwb is Lord of Flying Insects. Beelzebub is of different meanings.

    Jaefar SABNWJaefar SABNW2 หลายเดือนก่อน
  • Actually, I think the flies are more symbolic of Clay’s corruption . These are juxtaposed with the blue heron seen in the same episode, which is symbolic of Orel’s innocence. So when you see the flies buzzing around that heron in the end of the episode, it’s representative of how Orel’s innocence has been tainted by his father’s corruption.

    Fred JonesFred Jones2 หลายเดือนก่อน
    • Fred Jones I think it was confirmed by one of the members of the crew that the Heron was meant to represent Orel’s innocence, so your interpretation might be right.

  • I always thought that when we got to see how depressed the Nurse was, was one of the most darkening aspects of reality. Grew up thinking she was hot, she gets hit on, she is blissfully ignorant, and seemed happy. Only to see how alone she really was... and possibly was sexually abused as a child.

  • Dude. I grew up in that world, and graduated from the same school as Betsy DeVos. Let me tell you: the Christian Reformed Church is just as batshit crazy as this show.

    JohnWhorphinJohnWhorphin2 หลายเดือนก่อน
  • I think the fly thing just represented filth or rot, which was parallel with Clay's true nature. Hence, "drunk is nature" aka lack of inhibition shines a light on your true self.

    RainbowgoldenhoneyRainbowgoldenhoney2 หลายเดือนก่อน
  • The whole show is hard to watch if you were raised by abusive Christian parents. I relate to Orel so much, trying so hard to be good, not being good enough for the adults in your life, yet being shunned by your more worldly peers for being too good. Wanting to feel loved and approved of, and having to rely on some imaginary God for those comforting feelings that you aren't getting anywhere else. Then slowly realizing as you get older that everyone's an asshole, you can't please anyone, and God is fake. Great show.

    meowkkimeowkki2 หลายเดือนก่อน
  • How could you talk about "The Trauma of Being Grounded" without mentioning the sinister ending? The ending in which Orel's personal "I am a Church" revelation is literally beaten out of him by his father

  • the reason i love moral oral is that it reminds me of my childhood growing up as a church kid (albeit without the blood-letting and such) oral's fear is my own. his love was my own. his blind devotion was my own. he's a kid truly trying to be as religious as possible, something i went through in my teen years. watching him, i almost felt nostalgic for that part of me that i left behind. ran away from. right down to the hyper-religious dad using religion as a tool (minus the alcohol) and the unloved mother. i fucking love this show. no other show can make me feel nostalgic like this one

  • allegedly, the 3rd season was heavily watered down by Adult Swim before they axed it completely because the creator refused to return to the facade of comedy from the first 2. It was supposed to be 20 episodes, but we only got to see 13 of them. A lot of the 3rd season seems to imply the entire show is Orel's stop-motion film from season 2/the credits of every episode, but that never went anywhere because there's so much of S3 that's missing. It's bizarre how AS has screwed over most of the people who brought artistic life to the channel, Brendan Small of Home Movies & Metalocalypse being the most damning example. Maybe it's just that good art doesn't usually sell, but Adult Swim has basically butchered everything that made them once special. Sorry for ranting but Moral Orel is downright poetic and how AS nearly ruined it pisses me off
